Book Issue & Return
Sahyog College Library provides book circulation services to help students and faculty members access the academic resources they need for their studies, teaching and research. The book issue and return service is one of the most important facilities provided by the library, allowing users to borrow relevant books for use outside the reading area according to applicable library rules.
Students are encouraged to make effective use of the library collection and return borrowed books on time so that resources remain available to other users.
Book Issue Service
Eligible library members can borrow books from the library collection according to the borrowing rules applicable to their category.
Before borrowing a book, users should check the title, author, edition and physical condition of the book. Students should ensure that the book being issued is relevant to their course or academic requirement.
The library staff records the required circulation information when a book is issued. Students should keep their library or college identification details available whenever required for the circulation process.
How to Issue a Book
Students can follow these general steps:
- Search for and identify the required book.
- Check the book details and availability.
- Take the book to the library circulation desk.
- Present the required identification or library credentials.
- Complete the issue procedure with library staff.
- Confirm the due date before leaving the library.
- Keep the issued book safely until it is returned.
Students who need assistance locating a book can contact library staff.
Book Return
Borrowed books should be returned on or before the due date specified by the library. Timely return helps ensure that other students can access the same resources when required.
Students should return books in good condition. Any issue relating to damage, missing pages or other physical problems should be reported to library staff.
Users should not leave returned books unattended or place them randomly on library shelves unless instructed to do so.
Renewal of Books
Where renewal is permitted, students may request renewal of an issued book before or on the due date.
Renewal may depend on factors such as the availability of the book, demand from other users and applicable library policies. A book that has been requested or reserved by another user may not be eligible for renewal.
Students should contact the library staff for the current renewal procedure.
Overdue Books
Students are responsible for returning books within the prescribed period. Books that are kept beyond the due date may become overdue and may attract applicable charges or restrictions according to the library’s current policy.
Users should regularly check their issued books and due dates to avoid unnecessary delays.
Lost or Damaged Books
A borrowed book should be handled carefully. If a book is lost or significantly damaged, the student should immediately inform the library staff.
The library may require replacement of the book or recovery of its applicable cost according to institutional rules. The exact procedure should be confirmed with the library.
Responsible Use of Library Books
Library books are shared academic resources. Students should avoid writing, highlighting, folding pages or otherwise damaging books.
Books should be kept away from water, food and other materials that could cause damage.
